The summer workshops schedule has been updated.
We will be offering workshops in sound, video, printing and technology for exhibitions.
Things to know about Color in Photoshop:
• Use adjustment layers. Copy your background, and then use the controls on the bottom of the layers panel to manipulate your colors. With layers, you can change your mind over and over again.
• All the color manipulation tools can be found in the Image→Adjustments Menu at the top of the screen. No tool is objectively better than any other—it is a matter of personal preference. To manipulate a small part of the photograph, select it, copy the selection onto a new layer, and adjust that layer.
• Because of the difference between additive and subtractive color, your print will never look exactly the way it looks on the screen. Make test strips or small prints first. Be patient and good-humored. Creating a good digital print is not unlike creating a good print in the darkroom: it often takes several tries.
The Luminous Landscape website is an excellent resource if you’re trying to experiment with paper. The guy who runs it does tests of all the major (and lots of minor) brands, and he reviews them. Also, if you are interested in very expensive top-of-the line paper, read this essay, Battle of the Barytas.
