About the Grad Lab

The Graduate Research Lab is a resource for MICA graduate students interested in using technology in their artwork. The grad lab has computer, electronics and print labs, a wide variety of video and audio equipment and a staff of expert users. Students can conduct their own research in technology through workshops, one-on-one tutorials, and an online database of articles and information on various technologies and their use in art.

Staff

The Graduate Research Lab currently has five staff members: a full-time coordinator and four teaching interns.

Equipment

The Grad Lab has a variety of equipment available both on site and available for checkout through the AV Desk on the fourth floor of Brown. Some equipment requires training before use. If you have any questions about how to use any of the equipment in the lab please contact Lab Coordinator Kelly Egan or one the Teaching Interns. Printing The graduate printer are available for printing at specific hours with the assistance of a lab TI. Epson Stylus 9800 (capable of printing 44" wide) Epson Stylus 4800 (capable of printing 17" wide) Computers 6 IMacs for general use and workshop demonstrations. 3 Video stations with DV decks and monitor speakers. 1 Sound station 1 Interactive programming station with MIDI Keyboard AV Desk A full list of equipment available at the AV Desk will be listed here shortly.
