The Print Lab is a part of the Grad Lab that gives MICA graduate students access to color managed professional grade Epson Ink Jet Printers and a high quality color laser printer. Students must bring their files ready to print and allocate enough time for a tech to print them. It is recommended that students make an appointment before coming to print although we do our best to accommodate walk-ins. For best results it is also recommended that all files be soft proofed on the Grad Lab's color managed Proofing Workstations before they are printed. For more information on using the Grad Lab's Proofing Workstations and image proofing please visit our Proofing Workstations page. Please use the links in the side bar to find additional information regarding both printing processes.
Hours and Appointments
Print Lab hours of operation are listed on our Hours page. Please note that it is not physically possible to make prints as soon as the Print Lab opens. You may arrive and put your job in the que to be printed but it takes about 30min to start, load and clean the printers before they can begin printing. Likewise, it takes about 30mins to shut the printers down and techs will not start prints that are too big to finish printing before close. A good rule of thumb is to make sure you have your print job to the tech at least 2 hours before closing or earlier for larger jobs or multiple prints.
It is best to have an appointment when coming in to print, especially during peak print times of the semester. Having an appointment insures you a spot on the machine and a chance to make your print when you come to your appointment. To make a printing appointment simply send the Print Lab an email outlinning the number, size, paper type and ink type you are interested in using this will help the tech schedule you when you will get the most out of your appointment. Please make appointments at least two days in advance. Check the Printing & Checkout hours and make an appointment to print through our contact form. You may also contact us by phone at 410.225.4107. Walk-ins are welcome and will be helped as soon as possible.
The Print Lab offers students the opportunity to print at cost. Our prices vary based on paper type and printing process but all prices are kept as low as possible and are generally much cheaper then commercial print labs.
