In our core GD MFA Studio course, itaught by program directors Ellen Lupton and Jennifer Cole Phillips, as well as our Visiting Artist workshops, first- and second-year students work on individual projects as collaborative enterprises with a public impact. The studio has produced a series globally distributed books, including D.I.Y.: Design It Yourself and Graphic Design: The New Basics, and Indie Publishing: How to Design and Produce Your Own Book, as well as zines, exhibitions, conferences, and other endeavors.
